PCB has developed a relatively simple device to test cables on a channel by channel basis for BNC, 10-32, and 5-44 coaxial connectors. Simply connect both ends of the cable and faults will be indicated for shield failure, conductor failure, or short circuit shield to conductor. Power is provided by a single, replaceable 9 volt battery.

OTDR measuring devices are used in various ways in fibre optic technology. They enable extensive characterisation of existing fibre optic cabling networks. The use of launch and receive fibres is advantageous when it comes to ensuring precise results evaluations. With bidirectional backscatter measurements with launch and receive fibres, the attenuation values of the first and last plug-in connection can be determined precisely by averaging and device dead zones can be avoided. Measuring device manufacturers recommend different lengths of launch and receives fibres to avoid “phantom reflections”. These launch and receive fibres are also subject to measuring equipment monitoring and should regularly undergo revision in accordance with the OTDR measuring devices. A good measurement result depends on the state and quality of the measuring equipment used. Diamond offers various types of launch and receive fibres, one with standard telecommunications connectors and the other with an outdoor connector for harsh environments.

Unlike most distance sensors that rely reflected light intensity or reflected angles to determine range, the VL6180 uses a precise clock to measure the time it takes light to bounce back from a surface. Breakout board for the Sensirion SHT31-DIS-B. This sensor is an extremely accurate digital (I2C interface) temperature and humidity sensing device, with +/-0.2C temperature and +/-2% humidity accuracy typical. These specs far exceed the accuracy of ICs that came before it, including the HTU2x and SHT1x series, and improves upon the success of the SHT2x that came before it. In addition, the SHT31-DIS-B has a wide input voltage range of 2.4V-5.5V and includes temperature isolation and airflow cutouts as recommended for the optimal operation. Finally, in the case of environmental changes that could cause light condensation, the SHT31-DIS-B has a built-in heater to burn off any condensate.
