A particle counter is a useful tool for monitoring indoor air quality (IAQ) in clean rooms and workplaces, as a particle counter measures the concentration of particles in the air. While a particle counter won't identify specifically what kinds of dusts or particulates are present in the air, a particle counter will identify how many airborne particles of a certain size are present in the environment. The very large dynamic range provides high precision data even in turbulent flying conditions; data is acquired through short periods of saturation in extreme turbulence by the automatic application of a reduced order Kalman filter, enabling platform misalignment to be computed and hence controlled; the automatic calibration program computes accelerometer scale factors and errors in perpendicularity between the accelerometer sensitive axis and the platform surface. Modern diesel engines are quite clean, provided the soot filter is present and working properly. A soot filter can get clogged, or even malfunction. In that case the filter has to be cleaned or replaced. Unfortunately, sometimes the vehicle owner has the filter removed altogether.
