PMC Ethernet Switch Cards

The Ballard MPR-ES-1 is a full-featured Ethernet switch PMC card. It features 8 fast switch ports and one GigE switch/uplink port brought to the card's P14 rear I/O connector. A second GigE port provides a direct host connection through an on-board Ethernet controller (NIC). The MPR-ES-1 operates as a simple unmanaged switch by default, or can be fully managed to control complex switch operations and gather detailed statistical data.

The CCPMC form factor allows easy integration with modern embedded computers, including VME, VME-64, cPCI, and VPX systems. Low power consumption and high MTBF ratings make the MPR-ES-1 an ideal choice for rugged, high-availability systems.

These rugged cards are available in both XMC and PMC standards with a choice of front or rear I/O configurations. Mx5 high-performance mezzanine cards efficiently manage fully loaded databuses with ease. On-board protocol processors handle all databus activity, freeing the host for application-specific processing. 64 MB ECC (error correction) memory provides generous data storage with a variety of buffering schemes. High speed host interfaces are achieved with an x4 PCI Express lane with bus mastering on XMC versions and a 32/64-bit, 33/66/133 MHz PCI-X interface on PMC versions. All cards have extensive built-in test (PBIT, CBIT, IBIT).

Each USB model can be ordered without the enclosure so the board can be used in embedded applications. These compact and rugged units provide robust, low power interfaces for MIL-STD-1553, EBR 1553, ARINC 429, ARINC 717 and ARINC 708.
