As with our previous UPLC power-line carrier design, UPLC-II requires no hardware modifications for most required configurations. UPLC-II is frequency programmable across the entire power-line carrier spectrum (30 to 500 kHz) without changing any hardware components. UPLC-II can be software configured either as an ON/OFF or frequency-shift keyed (FSK) power-line carrier unit without changing any hardware components. This flexibility makes each UPLC-II universally suited for any directional comparison blocking, permissive, phase comparison or transfer trip protective relay application.
RF hybrids are used for combining multiple power line carrier (PLC) TX/RX units together onto one cable without causing interference between transmitters and receivers. They are also used for splitting PLC signals to go to two or three phases of a power line.
The Smart-Gap improves the performance and reliability of your Power Line Carrier Communications by minimizing the impact of any surge induced loss of carrier signal, also known as carrier holes. The Smart-Gap operates faster than traditional Spark Gap solutions, extinguishing surges in less than 0.5 msec. to minimize any signal loss.
The LPA-2 is the next generation high-power amplifier for Power Line Carrier Communications and adds features and efficiency superior to all previous designs using the latest technology. It offers flexibility plus user-friendliness on its input and output such that it can be used with any power line carrier system. Two 50W units can be combined for a 100W output and to provide redundancy.
The Universal Checkback Standalone System (UCBS) provides periodic testing of "ON-OFF" carrier sets other than the TC-10B and the UPLC/UPLC-II (which incorporate this same checkback tester internally). The UCBS determines the functionality of the complete channel including the transmitters, receivers and associated coupling equipment. Periodic testing is required for the normally "off" channel, to provide warning of signal deterioration prior to needing it for relaying, The UCBS facilitates automatic testing of the channel at preset intervals. The UCBS is totally field programmable. All programming is done with a computer using the RS232 serial port or limited factory settings with switches on the Checkback module. Front panel LEDs indicate the factory or custom setting applied and the status of alarms.
Application specific features set the MBT9600 Four Modem apart from the conventional high speed modems. Its compact size and ease of installation make the MBT9600 an ideal, low cost alternative to conventional audio tone teleprotection systems.The circuitry is ideally suited for use over private networks such as conventional voice channels over analog microwave.
