Test Cells
Emissions
-
LaplaCells provide a facility for the rapid and efficient testing of the EMC compliance of products. These cells offer a calibrated and screened environment in which radiated emissions can be measured and immunity to RF radiation can be tested. They \re calibrated according to the methodology of IEC61000-4-20, thus affording compliant testing to IEC61000-4-3 and pre-compliance testing for radiated emission testing.

Power Meter (LSPM)
Immunity
-
The LSPM series of RF Power Meters from LUMILOOP provides fast, accurate, and versatile power measurement across a wide frequency range. Designed for high-resolution time-domain analysis, pulse characterisation, and seamless integration with EMC test systems, these meters are ideal for modern labs requiring reliable RF power monitoring across multiple channels and applications.

Emissions Reference Source (ERS)
Emissions
-
The ERS is a comb generator that radiates RF continuously every 2MHz over the range 30MHz - 1000MHz. Each 2MHz peak is precisely measured during the calibration process with the ERS orientated both vertically and horizontally. These measurements are correlated against a 3m OATS such that any fully implemented CISPR16 site, measuring at 3m and using height scanning, will read the same.

LaplaCells provide a facility for the rapid and efficient testing of the EMC compliance of products. These cells offer a calibrated and screened environment in which radiated emissions can be measured and immunity to RF radiation can be tested. They exceed the requirements of IEC61000-4-20, thus affording compliant testing to IEC61000-4-3 and pre-compliance testing for radiated emission testing. The Cells are a modified form of GTEM cell, using a balanced dual septum design which maximises EUT volume for a given external size of cell, and dramatically improves field linearity. The EUT volume is fully lined in structural polycarbonate capable of supporting heavy products and access is via a large, full height door at the end of the cell. Adjacent to the door is the I/O filter compartment which can be customised to suit the users requirements. USB, RS232, Parallel, Ethernet, co-ax and other product specific filters can be added at time of ordering.

DC Filters
-
This DC filter provides substantial noise reduction on DC power lines of up to 50V 9A. Filter provides noise suppression in both directions protecting your DC lines from noise generating by a particular piece of equipment or protecting your sensitive equipment from noise coming from DC power supply or other loads. DC filter provides noise suppression for both power lines – positive and negative, plus common-mode noise vs. ground. Filter uses plug-in terminal block for connections and mounting flanges for easy installation. Its rugged construction makes it easy to fit in many industrial tools.

The commonality in this section is conducted noise. Noise is not just a consideration when complying with EMC legal requirements, its is also potentially damaging and/or cause of failure of product performance or communications, even if the noise level is below EMC standards limits.

Power Amplifiers
Immunity
-
The RF power amplifier range from Laplace is specifically designed for EMC Immunity testing according to IEC61000-4-3 and IEC61000-4-6. These are compact units with characteristics matched to the requirements of IEC standards. These RF amplifiers utilize fully isolated linear MOSFET or advanced GaAs FET devices, which provide high gain, wide dynamic range and excellent third order intercepts. High efficiency and reliable operation are achieved by employing unique RF combining circuits, RF microstrip networks, sophisticated thermal design, custom machined housing and heavy duty components. The high power RF amplifiers undergo extensive burn-in prior to final test and inspection.

Synthesisers
Immunity
-
The Laplace Synthesisers cover both conducted and radiated RF immunity test requirements. The frequency coverage extends from 100KHz to 500MHz for conducted tests (RFIC-4-6) and 30MHz – 6GHz for radiated tests (RF3000/RF6000). They are all controlled from the users PC via a USB link, and powerful Windows software is included to enable the user to control all the parameters of the test, to monitor the test in progress, and to view the results.

Coupling Decoupling Network (CDNE)CDN
Emissions
-
CDNEs are based on the CDN as specified in IEC61000-4-6 (Conducted RF Immunity test). In this test, the CDN is used for the coupling of RF onto a cable. In principle, the CDN can be used in reverse, ie coupling any RF on the cable out to an analyser. In an earlier version of EN 55015, these CDNs were specified as suitable for measuring emissions. However, the current version of the standard specifies a CDNE which is essentially a CDN refined to deliver higher accuracy particularly at higher frequencies.

Servo And VFD Filters
-
Operation of PWM-driven motors – servo motors and variable frequency drives (VFD) – causes several problems in equipment, including damage to the motor’s bearings due to leakage current causing electrical discharge machining (EDM) and damage to motor’s insulation. PWM motors also are a major source of EMI in equipment. These motor drive systems use pulsed power to drive the motors. As we are aware, the sharp edges of the pulses inevitably include high frequency components which can couple or radiate as noise to other parts of your system and cause unreliability, communication/control problems and EMC compliance issues.

RF Filters
-
RF Filters block unwanted frequencies when testing electronic devices for emissions during EMC testing. They attenuate unwanted frequencies and allow the desired signals through. The RF filters isolate the device under test from external RF noise, this increases the reliability and accuracy of the EMC testing by preventing out-of-band noise and harmonics.

Line Impedance Stablisation Networks (LISN)
Emissions
-
All commercial LISNs include an artificial hand connection and a transient limiter. This adds a 30dB insertion loss. A 30dB pre-amplifier is included which can be connected in the RF output feed to return the insertion loss to 0dB. All bar the heavy current LISNs are constructed in a flanged aluminium enclosure that can be bolted directly down to a ground plane (as required by standards). The underside of the enclosure is left unpainted to ensure good conductivity with the plane. The 16A and military/automotive LISNs have an RF output for each line, thus allowing parallel measurements of the emissions. This facilitates measurement of common mode and differential mode components of the emissions if required.
