  • System-On-Module (SOM) Products

    AdTEC System on Module (SOM) is a type of single-board computer (SBC), a subtype of an embedded computer system. Today’s SOM modules are complete embedded computers built on a single circuit board. The design is centred on a microprocessor with RAM, input/output controllers and all other features needed to be a functional computer on the one board. The module will usually need to be mounted on a carrier board (or “baseboard”) which breaks the bus out to standard peripheral connectors. AdTEC SOM solution offers a dense package computer system for use in small or specialized applications requiring low power consumption or small physical size as is needed in embedded systems. The SOM module connects to a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) through two 240-pin board-to-board (BTB) connectors. All the signals from SOM are routed to two BTH 240-pin connectors.

    The A/D and D/A products benefit from having both functions on one module increasing the board density and features and taking up less space in a system chassis. An A/D (analog-to-digital) converter, frequently abbreviated as ADC, accepts an analog voltage at the input and produces a digital representation of that voltage at the output that’s called a “sample”. The two primary characteristics of A/Ds are the rate of conversion or sampling rate, expressed in samples per second, and the accuracy of each digital sample expressed as the number of binary bits or decimal digits per sample. D/A (digital-to-analog) converters serve as the outputs for many multi-channel systems. The analog signals are AC coupled connecting to SMA connectors on the front panel.

    Discrete I/O modules are designed to provide users with a high degree of reliability and flexibility to meet input-output requirements. Digital I/O is ideally suited for stringent military and airborne applications. In many cases, we only need to know a simple status about the device we are trying to collect data from, whether something is true or false, on or off, in one position or another. In these cases, we can determine what we need to know using a digital input, or control these things by a digital output.

    An onboard IRIG-B time encoder & decoder allow users to accurately synchronize single or multiple modules to a common time source. The card has implemented all its Discrete IO logic in the FPGA. An Octal UART is used to implement serial port functionality. The Card consists of 8 ports of which 4 ports provide full functionality & other 4 provide half control. When configured for RS232 mode a port provides the full set of data & modem control lines. It can also be configured in RS485/RS422 mode. GPS functionality is provided by a receiver built into the antenna housing & communicates to the board via (RS-422) interface.
