In addition to EMI measurement with LISNs (Line Impedance Stabilisation Networks, Artificial Mains Networks), Probes are used for Terminal or Line voltage measurement.LISNs are required to feed the Equipment under Test (EuT) with mains power, to reduce external line interference, to offer the EuT a standardized impedance and to route the extracted r.-f. voltage to the EMI receiver.

Biconical Antennas have dipole like characteristics (e.g. circular directional pattern in the H-plane,"8"-shaped in the E-plane, fixed phase center, comparable gain), with an enormous wide bandwidth achieved by the double cone elements. One of the earliest and worldwide most popular biconical antenna designs is the BBA 9106 with balun VHA 9103 B. During the last years a growing need for expanded frequency ranges arised, which led to the design of biconical antennas reaching down to frequencies of 20 MHz and up to 18 GHz and above. A further increase of bandwidth was achieved with qualified 4:1 baluns, providing a typical gain increase of approx. 6 dB at the lower frequency range. The biconical elements can be mounted and dismounted within a few seconds providing perfect contact repeatability thanks to special clamping fixtures. A small wrench made of insulating material is supplied with the balun, it is tied to the balun head and thus always available whenever needed. Biconical antennas can be used for many applications, in which half-wave dipoles have been used traditionally. An enormous reduction of measurement time can be achieved, because the time consuming tuning of the antenna elements to the half wavelength is not needed, an important condition for sweeped broadband measurements. In typical dipole applications several discrete frequencies are measured, in contrast the biconical antenna allows continuous sweeps, where site anomalies are discovered much easier.

The broadband horn antennas BBHA 9120 offer a very low SWR in their nominal frequency range and a very broad bandwidth. The gain increases with frequency up to approx. 21 dBi, depending on the horn's size and shape. The increasing gain with frequency helps to compensate cable losses. The BBHA 9120 series is suitable for both, transmission and receiving applications. The max. allowed Input Power is only limited by the female N-connector. The detailed manual of the calibrated test antennas includes Gain, Antenna Factor, SWR and Directional Patterns. The antenna is mounted with the 22 mm tube, equipped with a Index Ring for quick changes of polarisation without using tools.

Stacked LPDA -
Schwarzbeck Mess Elektronik
The stacked Logarithmic Periodic Dipole Antenna consists of two ordinary Log.-Per. structures. The excellent characteristics (flat gain over a large bandwidth, low SWR) of the ordinary Log.-Per. designs could be maintained using the stacked LP design. The stacked design helps to focus the directional pattern of the H-plane somewhat, resulting in a typical gain improvement of ca. 2-3 dB compared to an ordinary LPDA. This is especially important for immunity testing, where a maximum fieldstrength and a good field uniformity is required. The beamwidth in the E-plane and the H-plane are nearly identical, providing an optimised illumination of the EuT with minimised ground reflection influence. Further the STLP 9128 C has an excellent cross-polar rejection.

The magnetic, handheld coil was designed to generate defined magnetic field strength in the audio frequency range up to 3 MHz. The main application is immunity testing against magnetic fields according to VG 95377 Part 13 and many others. Depending on the current source characteristics magnetic fields up to 400 A/m can be generated for a short time. There are further rings available on request in order to provide a certain scaling between coil current and magnetic field strength (e.g. 1 Amp coil current = 10 A/m field strength).
