Network Infrastructure Testing
Xena VulcanBay
-
Xena Networks’ VulcanBay is a scalable Gigabit TCP test chassis that offers extreme performance for stateful traffic load testing, analysis and characterizing of Ethernet equipment and network infrastructure. It supports 1/2.5/5/10/25/40GE interfaces and can be used for simulating millions of real-world end-user environments to test and validate infrastructure, a single device, or an entire system.

Convergence
-
Many network topologies provide resiliency to protect network services. This typically means re-routing traffic away from a faulty line section. However frame loss will occur if a connection is re-routed. When traffic with a given transmitted frame rate is sent through the connection during re-routing, packet loss can be measured and the convergence time can be calculated. Valkyrie can be used to measure convergence, while Chimera is used to emulate latency and jitter.

Security Testing
-
Security/negative testing is typically conducted during development to highlight how a DUT handles abnormal conditions like very high traffic load, different frame sizes (incl. undersized and oversized frames), framed with different IFG settings, various types of errors and deviation of the signal frequency, as well as various DDoS attacks.

Automotive Ethernet Testing
-
The automotive industry is evolving rapidly. The newest models have features that represent unparalleled innovation – cars that can communicate with each other, the road-side infrastructure, the Internet, plus highly advanced in-car infotainment systems. Cars are also being equipped with sensor-based safety systems that can dramatically improve traffic safety by virtually eliminating crashes. And we are nearing a point where fully automated vehicles that can handle all driving tasks will soon be commercially available.

Performance Testing
-
All of Xena’s products can be used for performance testing. This typically includes measuring:*the volume of data successfully delivered between two points, usually measured in bits or packets per second*how long it takes data packets to travel between two points in a network or a device, also known as latency*variations in latency – also known as jitter – due to network congestion or other factors*how many data packets fail to reach their destination*if data packets are delivered in a different order from that in which they were sent
