  • Humidity and Temperature

Humidity of Building Materials - PASI srl

The T660 is a professional hand-held instrument for fast, non-destructive determination of moisture content distributions in areas up to a depth of 4 cm from the surface. The T610 is a professional hand-held instrument for rapid non-destructive measurement of sub-surface moisture content.By means of microwave technology it is possible to detect distributions of moisture content at a depth of up to 300 mm.

  • Energy

    ESG Solutions

ESG Solutions is your best choice for subsurface diagnostic solutions. Since 1993, our microseismic monitoring experts have monitored over 1,500 wells for more than 600 energy projects. • Ultrasonic Rotary Mechanisms For High Speed Testing Of Round Bar And Tubular Products

ECHOMAC® ULTRASONIC ROTARIES - Magnetic Analysis Corp

High-speed Ultrasonic (UT) Systems enable a full volumetric examination of materials and are designed to detect surface, subsurface, internal and dimensional flaws. This type of testing utilizes high-frequency sound waves that are transmitted throughout the material being tested in order to conduct a thorough inspection.

  • Bandwidth-Controlled Seismic Source

    eSource - Teledyne Marine Bolt

Teledyne Bolt, Inc. has engineered a new type of airgun designed to reduce the potential impact of seismic acquisition operations on marine life while also delivering optimal bandwidth for subsurface imaging. eSource is designed to reduce the high-frequency components believed to have most potential for causing disturbance to marine life while retaining the low-frequency components critical to seismic exploration.

  • Cross Sections and Metallography

    Rocky Mountain Laboratories, Inc.

Cross sections are prepared by mounting samples in epoxy and then grinding and polishing the mount for imaging in the optical microscope or Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Valuable information from cross sectioning can include: film thicknesses, inclusions, corrosion thickness, dimensional verification, and subsurface defects. Metallographic cross sections are typically etched to reveal the microstructure. Microstructural analysis can provide information about heat treatment history, corrosion susceptibility, as well as undesirable microconstituents.

  • Geo-electrical Resistivity Logging Exploration System

    Langeo Co., Ltd.

Resistivity logging measures the subsurface electrical apparent resistivity, which is the ability to impede the flow of electric current. This helps to differentiate between formations filled with salty waters (good conductors of electricity) and those filled with hydrocarbons (poor conductors of electricity). Resistivity and porosity measurements are used to calculate water saturation. Resistivity is expressed in ohms or ohms\meter, and is frequently charted on a logarithm scale versus depth because of the large range of resistivity. The distance from the borehole penetrated by the current varies with the tool, from a few centimeters to one meter.

  • Sonar

    CTS Valpey Corp.

Piezo elements are used in military and commercial sonar systems for position finding activities. Location of surface and subsurface vessels, depth measurement, surveying, fish location, and communication are several of the more common sonar applications. Piezoelectric ceramic materials have high bandwidth and can quickly respond by applying high force at low power levels. These materials are generally unaffected by environmental factors such as humidity and temperature. CTS materials can be formed to customer specifications and are available in a wide range of geometries with dimensions up to 150 mm or thicknesses less than 100 microns. Our materials sustain high levels of drive voltage and provide excellent coupling factors in sonar applications.

  • Non Destructive Testing (NDT)

    Keighley Laboratories LTD

NDT covers a wide group of testing techniques used to evaluate the properties of a material, part, product, weld or system without causing damage. NDT carried out at KLL includes:Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) is used for the detection of surface breaking discontinuities on magnetic and non-magnetic metallic materials.Fluorescent and colour contrast penetrants are available to be used in the following methods:-Water washableSolvent removablePost emulsifiableMagnetic Particle Inspection (MT/MPI) is used for the detection of surface breaking and slightly sub-surface (up to 2mm) discontinuities.Bench type crack detectors and portable units are employed producing various waveforms (i.e. A.C, HWDC and induced magnetic flow) to give both circular and longitudinal magnetism.On-site testing is carried out using electro magnetic yokes and permanent magnets producing induced magnetic flow.Ultrasonic Flaw Detection (UT), also known as Ultrasonic Inspection, is used for the detection of volumetric discontinuities in ferrous and non-ferrous products (forgings and castings etc.), and welds in magnetic and non-magnetic materials.UT is capable of penetrating metals, dependent on the material characteristics, up to 10m in length. Some thickness and depth checks can also be carried out using ultrasound.Radiography services are available through sub-contract booked in advance. Notice is required for on-site work.Personnel are available at short notice for in-house or on-site work in the UK and overseas. All inspectors undertaking non destructive testing (LPT, MT/MPI and UT) are qualified to, and meet a minimum of, PCN Level 2.PCN Level 3 supervision is available in-house for LPT, MT/MPI, UT offering consultancy services including procedure writing and commentary, auditing of techniques and Level 3 Supervisor cover. We can assist clients in product qualification, material testing, quality assurance and audit programmes.
