Diamond SA
OTDR measuring devices are used in various ways in fibre optic technology. They enable extensive characterisation of existing fibre optic cabling networks. The use of launch and receive fibres is advantageous when it comes to ensuring precise results evaluations. With bidirectional backscatter measurements with launch and receive fibres, the attenuation values of the first and last plug-in connection can be determined precisely by averaging and device dead zones can be avoided. Measuring device manufacturers recommend different lengths of launch and receives fibres to avoid “phantom reflections”. These launch and receive fibres are also subject to measuring equipment monitoring and should regularly undergo revision in accordance with the OTDR measuring devices. A good measurement result depends on the state and quality of the measuring equipment used. Diamond offers various types of launch and receive fibres, one with standard telecommunications connectors and the other with an outdoor connector for harsh environments.

Arden Photonics LTD
The ModCon Mode Controller is designed to ensure that whatever source you use to test the loss and bandwidth of your multimode optical fiber network, LED, Laser, OTDR or white light, you launch the same distribution of modes into the fiber. As a result you can eliminate the variations due to the widely different modal characteristics of the sources commonly used in fiber optic measurements and networks.

OS405 -
Advanced Fiber Solutions
The OS405 (635nm) visible laser cable fault locator allows the operator to find faults in fiber optic cables, even in the OTDR dead zone, optimizing splices and tracing fibers. By injecting a bright red visible light in the fiber, locations of losses such as breaks, bends, or bad connectors can be detected visually, even through the typical yellow or orange jacket used on most single fiber cables.

Fibotec Fiberoptics GmbH
Fibolocator is an innovative device for measuring and characterizing fractures and other defects in optical fibers that cause backscatter. Time-resolved correlation reflectometry is the principle on which the device is built. OTDR cw laser diodes are used. The test signal requirements and the complexity of the system are low, resulting in very low cost OEM subsystems.

1100 -
Photon Kinetics
The 1100 Single Fiber Aligner uses patented fiber alignment concepts to produce virtually instantaneous temporary couplings for OTDR, dispersion, or any other optical fiber or component test that requires a fiber-to-fiber connection. It delivers low loss, low reflectance couplings on the first try virtually every time, without the need for test instrument feedback. As a result, temporary coupling times are minimized and manufacturing costs are reduced without compromising product quality.

AF-DI-1000 -
Advanced Fiber Solutions
Our latest introduction to the DR500 series line is the ferrule end fiber scope which enables the technician to view the end surface of the ferrule with an enhanced image of the fiber core and cladding. With AF-DI-1000* scope attached to the DR500 series OTDR via the side USB port the technician is able to determine the quality of the surface of the ferrule. The fiber scope enables the technician to see scratches, scrapes, dirt or any residual that might be on the ferrules surface area. If desired the fiber end image can be saved and downloaded to the PC for further analysis.
