  • Moisture Measurement

    Elcometer Limited

Moisture: The presence of moisture within a material will result in poor adhesion, premature coating failure and poor appearance. For example, applying a powder coating to a damp wooden panel will cause steam to be created when the panel passes through the curing oven, thus causing damage to the coating. It is not sufficient to simply ensure that the surface is dry by touch. The surface of the substrate is often the driest point due to evaporation. It is important to establish the moisture content within the substrate itself. The moisture measurement can either be taken using a Pin moisture meter or Pinless (Contact-Type) moisture meter.

  • Roughness Testers

    PCE Instruments

Roughness is an important parameter when trying to find out whether a surface is suitable for a certain purpose. Rough surfaces often wear out more quickly than smoother surfaces. Rougher surfaces are normally more vulnerable to corrosion and cracks, but they can also aid in adhesion. A roughness tester is used to quickly and accurately determine the surface texture or surface roughness of a material. A roughness tester shows the measured roughness depth (Rz) as well as the mean roughness value (Ra) in micrometers or microns (µm). Measuring the roughness of a surface involves applying a roughness filter. Different international standards and surface texture or surface finish specifications recommend the use of different roughness filters. For example, a Gaussian filter often is recommended in ISO standards.

  • Ionizers

Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems Europe GmbH

There are many production processes where electrostatic charges disturb smooth operation. To eliminate static, ionizers are used. One typical field of application is the semiconductor industry where the components are extremely sensitive and can even be damaged by high electric static charges. Another example is the printing industry: Here friction between the rollers and the paper generates static. The static makes the paper cling and not move correctly through the printing machine. Especially when printing on vinyl or plastics, electrostatic charges need to be removed. In the packaging industry, plastic sleeves or foils tend to stick to each other, which can be prevented with an ionizer eliminate static. A general problem in assembling processes is the adhesion of dust and dirt particles. Contamination of workpieces can be prevented by having static eliminators neutralize and blow away undesired particles.

  • Cupping Tester

    PCE-CPT 20 - PCE Instruments

PCE-CPT 20 is a cupping tester, or coating flexibility tester, used for testing the adhesion, elongation and deformability of paints, lacquers, varnishes, powder coatings and other surface coatings on metal sheets. Used in manufacturing production, paint shop and quality control applications, the PCE-CPT 20 cupping tester aids in determining coating strength, durability and elasticity. A mandatory test in Qualicoat and QIB accredited quality control laboratories, a cupping test, also referred to as an Erichsen test or dent test, uses a spherical punch to deform a sample. This deformation results in a cup-like bulge. When using the PCE-CPT 20 to perform a cupping test in accordance with the ISO 1520 standard, the sample should be placed coating side up so that the 20 mm spherical punch presses against the uncoated underside of the metal sheet. The cupping test is terminated when small cracks and/or detachments are observed on the bulged part of the sample. The PCE-CPT 20 cupping tester's easy-to-read display shows the bulge deformation distances that can be used to determine the coating's flexibility rating.

  • Paper & Packaging Testing Equipment

Dongguan Amade Instruments Technology Co., Ltd

Packaging testing equipment are intended to measure the resistance of corrugated containers to various crushes and burst at given conditions, applied to bursting strength test, ring crush test, edge crush test, flat crush test, pin adhesion test, puncture strength test, bending stiffness test, corrugating medium test, compression test, damp-proof test etc. As corrugated boxes assume the important responsibility of loading and protecting goods playing an inevitable role in modern logistics, so the properties of corrugated boards have to be mastered by manufacturers and users prior to use. The physical performances which are measured by a series of testings are core factors for judging the quality of packaging boxes. Paper testing items mainly include quantification, thickness measurement, whiteness, smoothness, breaking elongation, burst resistance, folding resistance, stiffness, tearability, degree of sizing, etc.
