With the OndoSense radar sensors, the fill level of liquid steel or aluminum can be measured contact-free with sub-millimeter accuracy, even at metal temperatures of up to 1600 degrees Celsius. Dust, steam, smoke, vibrations and strong heat radiation have no influence on the high precision and reliability of the radar-based molten metal level monitoring. Active cooling of the level radar is usually not necessary.

The RR024 is designed for Radar Electronic Support (RES) and Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) applications where high performance and small size are of prime importance, with filtering, amplification, detection and pulse parameter measurement being combined into one multi-function unit. Four amplitude measurement channels allow direction finding by amplitude comparison between adjacent antennas. An IFM, fed from one of the amplitude channels via an SPDT switch, performs 14 bits of frequency measurement on the selected input. Frequency resolution is nominally 1 MHz over a 2 to 18 GHz band.

The device supports four radiating elements, single beam transmit, and dual beam receive and includes all requisite beam steering controls for 6 bit phase and gain control. The device provides 21 dB gain and +15 dBm output power during transmit mode and 7 dB gain and +7 dBm IIP3 during receive mode. Additional features include gain compensation over temperature, temperature reporting, and fast beam switching using eight on-chip beam weight storage registers.
