The Wave Optics Module provides dedicated tools for electromagnetic wave propagation in linear and nonlinear optical media for accurate component simulation and optical design optimization. It also adds to your modeling of optical media by supporting inhomogeneous and fully anisotropic materials, and optical media with gains or losses. It is straightforward to simulate optical sensors, metamaterials, optical fibers, bidirectional couplers, plasmonic devices, nonlinear optical processes in photonics, and laser beam propagation.

An optical encoder is an electromechanical device which produces an electrical signal output proportional to the linear displacement of a linear guide or the angular position of an input shaft.Open encoders are exposed and feature no external integrated enclosure. The advantages of open optical encoders include the effective elimination of backlash, shaft wind-up (torsion) and other mechanical hysteresis errors.A rotary open optical encoder consists of a position measurement readhead and an accurate rotary scale marked either on the periphery of a ring or on the face of a disc.The readhead measures position by optically sensing the regularly-spaced scale markings and outputs this information as an analogue or digital signal.The signal is subsequently converted into a position reading by a digital readout (DRO) or motion controller.

The Model 104-IDIO-16 is a 32-channel PC/104 utility board featuring 16 optically isolated inputs and 16 optically isolated solid state outputs. The isolated, non polarized inputs may be driven by either DC sources of 3-31V (or higher by special order) or AC sources at frequencies of 40Hz to 10KHz. Optically isolating the digital inputs from each other, and from the computer, assures smooth, error-free data transmission in noisy, real-world environments.
