Drum Core Inductors
Drum core inductors are so named as the conductor (round magnet wire) is wound directly onto the ferrite core which is shaped like a drum or spool. The wire is then connected to the core, a plastic base or metal lead frame to form the surface mount termination. Drum core inductors come in unshielded (high saturation current but potentially more EMI) and shielded constructions (lower saturation current but closed magnetic path for lower EMI). The shielded constructions use either a second ferrite core or a magnetic resin epoxy to create the magnetic shield.

The PA72DIOS6016 is a multifunctional digital design core. The FPGA allows for implementing many different custom applications. The connector has 64 Input/Output pins which can be assigned as TTL I/O or as differential inputs. 128 MByte of DDR2 memory is available to the FPGA, and an onboard EEPROM allows for storing values in non-volatile memory. The I/O bank voltage can be FPGA-selected between 2.5 and 3.3 Volt.

Furaxa has researched, developed, and characterized a novel monolithic arrayable pulse and sample aperture generation technology. Recent results include demonstration of sub-10ps pulse/aperture generation at repetition rates up to 3 Billion Pulses/Samples Per Second (BPPS) with jitter that is estimated at sub-10fs. Further, simulations in a number of InP DHBT processes exhibit sub-3ps 20BPPS performance. The IP is process-independent, and has been achieved in CMOS SOI, InP HBT, SiGe and GaAs so far. Stacks built with punched laminations can have a lot of quality issues. Even though the lamination material is tested in sheet format before any process, that alone is not sufficient to guarantee good quality stators. Wear and tear of the punch, bad welding, bad insulating coating in annealing add to the magnetic losses in the stator. It is always advisable to test the stator core in it's final format before winding to ensure good quality throughout the production batch.
