To accommodate developments in radio equipment technology and to align with the requirements of the New Legislative Framework (NLF), the EU R&TTE Directive has been re-written. As of 2016, the European Commission replaced the R&TTE Directive with the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), which establishes safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements for equipment using the radio spectrum. Following June 13, 2017, after a one year transition, the RED 2014/35/EU replaced the R&TTE Directive. Hybrid couplers with bandwidths as broad as 125:1 are available for applications within 100 kHz to 500 MHz. Power handling is 1 watt maximum for a load VSWR of 1.2:1 or better. These hybrids have an isolation of 20 dB and phase balance of 3 degrees. Most models have a VSWR of 1.4:1 or better throughout their operating bandwidths.Pulsar Microwave currently offers these hybrid couplers packaged in three outlines, including an SMT version. Standard offering of connectorized packages 412 and 442 are with SMA female connectors. Outline 412 may be customized with any combination of BNC, TNC, F or N connectors.
