A cable fault meter can locate open power cables, either live or dead (without current), with voltages up to 300 V. A cable fault meter can locate cables, circuits, short circuits and ground wires. To perform these functions, it is not always necessary to disconnect electrically sensitive devices or to disconnect the power from the cable which is being tested. Relays in line with the signal allow open circuit conditions to be simulated on either side or both sides of a channel signal pair.
