Our marine shaft power meter systems measure shaft torque, power, propulsion, rpm and thrust (if required), to ensure optimum performance is maintained throughout the lifecycle of a vessel. Using highly accurate & reliable strain gauge technology, combined with cutting-edge electronics, our system has an accuracy of 0.1%. It can be installed and commissioned within 1-2 days on a variety of shafts including intermediate shafts, thrusters, propellers and controllable pitch propellers. Our technology, along with our expertise in dynamic sampling of strain gauges, enable us to unlock a significant amount of information regarding the performance of the engine & propulsion shaft, along with the propeller.

All six Shaft Angle Position Feedback Monitors in the SG1000 Series utilize absolute rotary encoders to provide independent and accurate feedback of a slide gate's or a valve's position to an external device such as a PLC or optional PM500 Process Meter Display Unit. Models are housed in a rugged, Explosion-Proof/Dust-Ignition Proof cast aluminum enclosure that is dirt, dust, grease-proof, and water resistant. In the case of a power failure, all SG1000s are designed to retain accurate gate position.

Shaft Speed Switches

A speed switch senses rotating shaft speed, comparing it to one or more settable over/under/zero speed alarm trip-points. A shaft speed sensor detects magnets embedded in a shaft-mounted pulser wrap/disc. As the shaft rotates, the passing magnets are detected across an air-gap as pulses with frequency proportional to shaft RPM. When a conveyor belt or bucket elevator begins to slip the pulse frequency (shaft RPM) crosses to the alarm side of a trip-point threshold, a corresponding relay de-energizes, providing shutdown or alarm.

The TDSM Series are low cost absolute encoders consisting of a size 11 electromagnetic transducer and a 2.6 x 3.1 x .6 conversion module. The outputs available are 12 to 16 bit binary format representing 0 to 359.99 degrees of absolute shaft angle input. The transducer reference supply is also included in the module which is designed for printed circuit mounting. A data transfer and data hold line are provided for simple computer or microprocessor interfacing. These features in addition to the latest digital circuitry techniques, make these encoders the best selection in today's applications where resolutions greater than 10 bits are required with ultra high reliability assured.

Product DescriptionRestriction of Hazardous SubstancesThe A2 absolute encoder is a non-contacting optical rotary position sensor which reports the shaft angle within a 360 deg. range. As opposed to incremental encoders, the A2 reports the absolute position rather than the change in position. When powered up, it does not require a home cycle, even if the shaft was rotated while the power was off. In multi-turn mode, it tracks the position in a 32-bit counter as long as the power supply is maintained. Internally, an infrared LED flashes through a circular bar code onto a linear array sensor. The microcontroller decodes the image into a unique position. All user programmable parameters such as resolution, origin, direction and mode are permanently stored in an internal EEPROM

This series of units were designed to satisfy Hi speed synchro/resolver applications where the output data must be fresh and no data staleness can be tolerated. The tranducers utilized are the same as in the regular MDS series, however different tracking electronics are used. The resultant data tracks the input shaft perfectly and is always fresh and accurate at input speeds up to 64 revolutions per second, depending on the resolution. Data in BCD or Binary formats are available, and clean, unambiguous crossovers are guaranteed.
