SubHDR Mast Motion Sensor Test Station

SubHDR Mast Motion Sensor Test Station

National Instruments PXI technology is used to communicate with the Mast Motion Sensor (MMS), a ring laser gyro inertial navigation system (INS), for calibration and test. This test station also utilizes a 2-Axis Rotary/Tilt table, also controlled by the PXI equipment, to change the orientation of the MMS so the full range of roll, pitch, and heading accuracy of the device can be tested. Verification can be accomplished in both dockside and at-sea modes while sixty minute drift run tests for sensor bias induced integration errors are also conducted. The Rotary/Tilt table can also place the MMS at 7 different specific positions for mini-bias calibration of the units. The test system can also download the MMS’ fault history to check for intermittent failures. Currently designs are in place to upgrade the entire test setup such that the entire APG may be mounted to a 2-axis position so the MMS need not be removed from the system for testing.
