Pickering PXI Fiber Optic MEMS Switching cards are available in many high density formats with a choice of 5 different connector styles to suit most applications: FC/APC (for optimal performance), FC/PC and SC/PC for general applications and LC and MU for high density applications. Fiber optic multiplexers create a signal path by redirecting the optical signal into a selected output fiber. This is achieved using Micro-Mechanical Mirrors driven by a highly precise mechanism and activated via an electrical control signal.

The cable assembly is constructed from highly flexible 7/0.15 (26AWG) Silver Plated Copper Wire. Model 40-659A is an 8 Bank 8 Channel Multiplexer module with 2-pole switching, It uses high quality electromechanical relays and is suitable for switching signals up to 2Amp, 300VDC/250VAC. The 40-659 module is suitable for multiplexer applications where two signals are required to be switched simultaneously, for example send and return signals in a telecoms system. It is also suitable for applications where reed relay based multiplexers do not have sufficient power handling capability such as switching medium power AC or DC loads or for slaving external relays, contactors and solenoids.
