Compass Technology Group, llc
Compass Technology Group offers a wide range of lab-grade conventional measurement methods including free space measurement systems, resonant cavities, and waveguides. Several of our free space devices are portable and bring the lab out into the field. Like with most of our products, each is customizable to fit your specific needs. From oddly shaped samples to wide band frequency ranges, we handle it all.

CTG is a pioneer in the use of Computational ElectroMagnetic (CEM) methods for converting measured S-parameters into desired intrinsic properties (permittivity, permeability, impedance). In fact only CTG carries commercially available devices using this inversion principle. These cutting edge material measurement devices can measure in ways that are not possible using conventional waveguide or free space methods. CTG is continuing to develop new CEM-based measurement devices so check back often as the list of available devices and capabilities will continue to grow…

Incorporated into a number of CTG products are specialized antennas or probes that enable measurement of materials in various environments. These probes can be purchased as part of a system or separately for your own application. The spot probe technology we developed is called AMMP, or Advanced Microwave Mapping Probe. It is a significant improvement over traditional dielectrically loaded horns because the metal radiating elements and dielectric loading and shape were optimized together using the latest in CEM tools.

CTGcalc™ is a Windows application that sets up microwave network analyzers, acquires measured S-parameter data, and analyzes the acquired data for CTG’s various measurement fixtures. CTGcalc™ allows the user to extract complex dielectric permittivity, magnetic permeability, or sheet impedance of the measured specimens.

CTG recently developed a new paradigm in linearly-polarized antennas called the Flat Lens Antenna Technology or ‘FLAT’. These antennas have directivities similar to conventional dual-ridge antennas, but in a much lighter and “flatter” package. They can be used as a direct replacement for conventional horns for a wide variety of applications. They are made using composites technology so are also rugged and are ideal for both indoor and out-door applications.
