With the dB-meter the stability or fluctuation of the optical power over a large dynamic range is determined. A fiber-coupled, power-stabilized 1.55μm laser diode is built into the device to easily and quickly test passive fiber optic components or local fiber loops. Alternatively, however, the wavelength range is 780nm-1650nm can be used.

ASE Sources -
Fibotec Fiberoptics GmbH
Fiber optic broadband light sources use amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) within optically pumped rare earth doped fibers. The spectral width of the light source can be determined by the developer in a range of a few nm to the full width of the emission spectrum of the active ion (eg, erbium ion). The optical power density of fiber optic ASE sources is typically higher than that of fiber-coupled broadband semiconductor light sources with simultaneously lower intensity noise (RIN). These properties, and the lack of resonator interference, of good incoherence make ASE sources a preferred instrument for use in metrology applications.

Fibotec Fiberoptics GmbH
Fibotec offers special laser diode drivers, in particular versions that accommodate laser diodes via integrated terminal blocks. Two standard products for different applications are included in the butterfly package with up to 2 A forward current laser diodes. the configuration for "signal laser" is available on request.

Fibotec Fiberoptics GmbH
Fiber-coupled laser diodes are finding more and more industrial application, for example in printing technology, comparable graphic areas, material processing or sensor technology. The use of finished laser diode modules opens up a cost saving potential, especially under the conditions of an industrial operating environment and increasing complexity of the terminals. Fibotec offers modules that include high power laser diodes and fiber arrays.

Fibotec Fiberoptics GmbH
The diode lasers are compact, single-mode light sources with a spectral width in the sub-MHz range (cw). A modulation input is optional. The wavelength for standard products is 1530nm-1565nm (other wavelength can be tested).

MOPA -
Fibotec Fiberoptics GmbH
These light sources are compact Master Oscillator Power Amplifier (MOPA) assemblies that can be directly modulated in a fixed range of repetitive frequency and pulse power. The standard products operate in the wavelength range around 1.5 μm at a repetition frequency> 6 kHz and with a pulse energy of 10 μJ / 50 ns (200 W peak power).

EDFA -
Fibotec Fiberoptics GmbH
EDFAs are based on the light amplification in erbium-doped fiber, which are optically pumped by means of 980 nm or 1480 nm light sources. In this way, the light of a larger wavelength within the C or L band applied to the input of the amplifier is amplified, thus widening the range of optical communication links. EDFAs typically operate in saturation and the average signal power determines the average gain. The dynamics of EDFA are unaffected by the sequence and dynamics of a digital signal or channel interaction in DWDM systems. As a result, multiple channels can be bundled within the total erbium spectral amplification bandwidth. However, the total average output power in both cases is determined by the saturation power of the specific EDFA.

Fibolocator is an innovative device for measuring and characterizing fractures and other defects in optical fibers that cause backscatter. Time-resolved correlation reflectometry is the principle on which the device is built. OTDR cw laser diodes are used. The test signal requirements and the complexity of the system are low, resulting in very low cost OEM subsystems.
