Definition: Boundary Scan is a topic that contains the various types of testers designed to control and observe the behaviour within boundary scan devices and the circuitry around them. Boundry Scan is the use of scan registers to capture state from device input and output pins. IEEE Standard 1149.1-1990 describes the international standard implementation (sometimes called JTAG after the Joint Test Action Group which began the standardisation work). The IEEE 1149.1 standard can be tested using either or both of two boundaryscan test strategies: virtual interconnect test (VIT) and virtual component/cluster test (VCCT). |
