FC16-2
The FC16-2, 1 and 2 Gbps edge switches are an entry point to the switched storage environment with up to 16 self-configuring ports. Like the enterprise class director, it supports class 2,3 Fibre Channel and optical and fiber GBICS, and has dual power and a GUI control. The FC/9000 provides low cost of entry with the ease of a hub and the aggregate bandwidth, stability and manageability of a switch. Each FC/9000 can configure itself as: arbitrated loop (FL), translative loop (TL), point-to-point (F), or switch-to-switch (E) mode. It is ideal as an edge or departmental switch and includes such features as the data stream facility (a requirement for tape backup applications), public and private loop support, port auto discovery and a browser based SAN management system. Eight credits per port allow for connectivity over distances up to 10km.
